Where Has the Time Gone?

Wow, has it really been 9 days since I posted? There's a theory floating around that time is actually speeding up. I think I believe it!

It seems I have all these deep thoughts during the day and I think, "I should blog about that." Then I don't. I know you can relate.

Some weird flu-like illness has passed through the fam already. I usually don't get flu shots because of bad experiences (like getting the flu right after the shot). I was talking to a colleague yesterday about the idea and she said that it seems so dumb that we would purposely infect ourselves with the flu virus. Well, when you put it that way...

I think I have "short-timers syndrome" when it comes to school. We have 3 more class periods until Thanksgiving break. My dual credit class keeps bugging me to watch a movie in class instead of me lecturing. That sounds darn good right about now!

Please Procrastinate

Happy Easter everyone! This quote was in my in-box when we got home today. I have found myself living by it already lately, so it really resonated with me. Procrastination can really be a good thing sometimes!
---------------
If there is something that you have to do, resist the temptation to do it under duress. Ask yourself, "What's the worst thing that would happen if I didn't do this?" And if you can get away with not doing it at all, don't do it. And then imagine what would it feel like to have this done. Spend a day or two, if you can, just 15 minutes here, 5 minutes here, 2 minutes here, here and here, imagining it completed in a way that pleases you! And then, the next time you decide that you're going to take action about it, the action is going to be a whole lot easier.

The Twilight Zone

Yesterday, I went to an Intuitive Wellness Fair, where I got tarot readings, cranio-sacral therapy and a past life reading. Some things were so accurate that it just doesn't seem to be possible to be a coincidence. Hummingbirds were mentioned, and just last weekend I spent time watching little hummingbirds at my in-laws' house. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a hummingbird before that.

What really fascinates me is the past life stuff. According to my psychic, I have been a gladiator, a Sherpa in the Himalayas (who froze to death) and a Shawnee mother of 5. I don't "remember" any of this stuff, though I have always been drawn to Asian art and custom for whatever reason.

I also got to visit with a friend whom I haven't seen in ages. Turns out he's also published a book! Go, Eric!

I don't think it matters if you believe in this stuff or not - it's fun just the same.

Have you ever done a palm reading or something similar? Was it accurate in hindsight?

Ommmmmm

I have tried on and off throughout my life to meditate without much success. I can sit for 5 minutes tops before I get frustrated. I guess it's the achiever in me wanting to do it the best...now.

Why do I want to meditate? First of all, I've always been an anxious person, so I tried meditating as a way to inner peace. Secondly, I have read many accounts of extraordinary spiritual experiences happening in a meditative state, and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that! If you're a long-time reader then you know how much difficulty I have staying in the present moment, though I must say I have gotten better at it over the years.

That being said, I have to tell you about a couple of audio technologies I have found that induce a meditative state automatically! As in, you don't have to do anything but listen to these things on your mp3 player. The tones induce theta brain waves, which is the state of deep meditation. You're in a trance and don't even know it!

I have been using these things for about 6 months now and my sense of peace has quadrupled. I find myself being more intuitive - not second guessing myself anymore. I am also noticing more "coincidences" and synchronicities in my life. These technologies are not "quick fixes" by any means, but if you're looking for spiritual growth, I'd highly recommend them.

Take a look:

What do you do to reach for inner peace? I'd love to hear your ideas!

Extraneous Quotation Marks

How did "it" get to be May 10th? How did "April" pass me by? It seems that the "older" I get, the faster "time" goes by. Well, that's not entirely "true," considering that I say that every year...and obviously "time" has not sped up (if you even believe in such things as time and space).

Have you ever had a "dream" about someone that you haven't thought about in years? Or maybe "that" someone just pops into your mind out of the blue - in a memory or image? That "has" been happening to me lately with an old friend that I haven't seen or talked to in over a year. The thing "is" that I can't seem to contact him. He isn't returning my "calls" or emails. It really makes me wonder what's going "on." Usually when someone pops "in" there like that, something major has happened in their life.

Or maybe I'm just "obsessing" for something to do.

Psychic or Psycho?

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We went to visit my dad and had a really nice time. I think I had a bit of a pre-cognition today, but it sounds so lame talking about it after the fact.

We were driving through a neighborhood that takes us out to the highway, and I thought, "I hope I don't get a flat." There was no reason to think that - I hadn't run over anything or noticed that my tire was low. I just chalked it up to one of those rogue thoughts that pop in there, like "I wonder what would happen if I swerved off the road right now?"

Anyway, you can probably guess what happened on the highway: we got a flat. Not a blow-out, but a flat. And thank God Shane was with me to change the tire. I mean, I really can change a tire, but we would probably still be there on the side of the road because I couldn't get the lug nuts off. Both times I have gotten a flat tire while driving have been on the highway. Go figure.

So what do you think? Pre-cognition or rogue thought? Have you had any similar experiences that you thought about after the fact?

You're an Angel

Anyone who's read this blog for 5 minutes knows that the metaphysical fascinates me. I have been reading Angels 101 by Doreen Virtue. My cousin by marriage has been able to talk to angels since childhood, so you know I have been totally chatting her up lately. She has a fantastic site if you're interested.

Anyway, I was thinking about times when angels in human form have helped me in the past. One time in particular sticks out:

Punkin was about 8 months old and had chronic ear infections. We were on our way into the city to see her ENT doctor. I had a blowout on a major freeway! I know how to change a tire, but it had been years since I had done it. I called AAA and waited for at least 30 minutes on the side of the highway, cars whooshing by at a dangerous proximity. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands, but of course all of the tire changing tools were housed under Punkin's car seat. Ugh.

I moved her into the front seat and got to work. I had barely lowered the spare from under the chassis when a big car full of black guys pulled up behind me. For whatever reason, I didn't feel afraid. They got out, changed my tire with their fancy tools, told me where to go to get a new tire for a good price, and absolutely refused any payment. They said, "God bless you," and drove away.

To this day, I am convinced that they were angels sent to help me. We ended up in the doctor's office, me covered with grease and feeling very grateful.

What about you? Have you been "touched by an angel"?
