Do as I Say Not as I Do

So, good ol' depression hit me a couple of days ago. I have yet to see much of my house besides the bedroom, haven't eaten anything but 2 slices of pizza in the last 3 days and haven't gotten out of bed except to pee. My brain chemistry rocks.

As I am striving to see the silver lining, my family and friends have been nothing but supportive and concerned. Shane even learned how to do the laundry!

Christmas was less than lovely in my own head, though the actual gathering of family and friends went off without a hitch. Although no one on "the outside" thinks so, when depression strikes, you can never think of being anything but a burden to those you love.

'Tis life. The most fretful thing that I think about in times like these is that Punkin will probably have similar problems since it runs in both sides of the family. Hopefully we'll know how to make things better for her this time around.

And as for Self-Care, I do consider letting myself rest doing a good thing. Last year, I'd be pushing myself to do laundry and pick up the house. Not this time, though. One wall is enough for me to hit this week.

As Kambri said, I hope you all had a Joyeux Noel.

Yes, I think sometimes you just need to give yourself a break and take time to feel it. Because if you don't you may end up with tears just below the surface for a few days straight and you have to keep waiving your hand in front of your face Southern-plantation style to keep the tears from spewing forth until you eventually just break down in sobs at an inopportune time. For example.

I have something to rock your brain chemistry: "General Hospital" killed off Georgie.

You were expecting some Alexis Bledel motif?

Seriously - who rides in an open car, standing up through the skylight, in Pakistan?

Please tell me the bad guys aren't going to win.

Hugs to you (and you, too, cjh) - I've SO been there. I hope New Year's brings a new hope and a fresh start for you.

PS Did you see Joel Osteen on "60 Minutes?" That was a dicey thing for him to do. When he teared up, I know that caused 20 million people to change the channel.

I missed the 60 Minutes thing. I wonder if I can watch it online...

Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time. My wife and I hope you are through this latest bad stretch. Your openness about what you are going through is really helpful to hear. Take care!

I understand what it is like for me to be depressed/anxious and have been having a bout myself lately... Not any fun times at all esp. when everybody expects you to be in a great "holiday mood". Glad you have support at this time.

I hope your depression burns itself out quickly. I'm thinking of you.
