Happy Birthday Punkin!

Happy 8th birthday to the love of my life! (The kid, not the dog) We had a great day, playing hookey, pretending to be pop stars, having lunch and shopping! As the cliche goes, I can't picture my life without her and she brings me a lot of joy (and other emotions, too).

For those of you who don't know me, my childhood wasn't so great, and I have to admit that I may be overdoing it with her, but it makes us both happy. And when it boils down to it, happiness is what we're all after, right? Why do you want money, a car, a satisfying job, intimate relationships? Because they cause you to be happy, that's why.

So what makes you happy? Even if others may not approve?

What a lovely picture of her!

I thought the dog was another stuffed animal!

You should send that picture in for any kind of contest.

Saturday Evening Post cover.

Happy birthday to the kid, who still doesn't mind being called a kid (yet)

Happy B-Day Punkin! Sounds like the two of you had a great day. There's not much better in life than making your child smile.

Being on speaking terms with Darren...believe it or not. I hate fighting with him. I know what you are thinking but I'm not getting stupid. I promise...:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PUNKIN!!!

Happy Birthday to your Punkin! My "baby boy" turned 10 today (March 3). Darling Daughter will be 13 in a couple of weeks. I feel old.

We just got home from taking them to Disney World - their 5th trip. Seeing the looks on their faces....THAT makes me happy!

Happy birthday to your girl! You're right - happiness is what it's all about. Don't let anyone steal your joy.

Keep on doing what feels right. When I parented my daughters, I felt like I was doing a pretty good job. And I was. But now, having another chance at parenting with Baby Luke, I'm doing things a little differently. I certainly plan to make joy a big part of our experience together! And hey, if I make mistakes, that's what therapists are for, right? :)
