the newest source of local insanity is tropical storm rita. i don't know if people would be this concerned if katrina hadn't just happened. everyone is saying how they're going to be prepared. the captain just called me from a local home improvement place to tell me about the insane number of plywood sheets that are being sold. i'm sure the grocery stores are almost out of bottled water and batteries.
if rita does hit our area, it will likely be on saturday. as someone who has weathered a hurricane and a stalled tropical storm, i am not that concerned. if it looks like the worst will happen, we have a few places further inland we could go. the captain won't want to. he loves to study weather, and being able to sit through a hurricane is just so rare. i remember when tropical storm allison wreaked havoc by stalling right over our heads, his favorite place to hang out was in the garage with the door open.
i may be the idiot for not getting freakish, but it just doesn't feel like an emergency...yet.
in other news, my new general psych class of 30 students was very unhappy to be getting a new instructor - especially one who isn't following the former instructor's methods. they'll get over it. they were especially happy to hear that i am giving them a test a week from today. muhahahahahaha! i love the power!
