anyone that has been reading my blog for any significant length of time knows that i think valentine's day is stupid. why would i want candy and flowers on the same day that every other girl is getting them? that's not very special. this year, captain crotch wrote me a wonderful letter. that's better than all the flowers and candy in the world!

on an unrelated note, i administered my first exam to my students today. i gave them a review which basically outlined the whole test plus i gave them the essay question 2 weeks in advance! i was so hopeful that they would do better than my last semester disasters. so much for that. i had a handful who actually bothered to study and made a's and b's. then, there were the students who obviously didn't. a couple of the essay question answers had nothing whatsoever to do with the question. just leave it blank if you don't know! you'll look a whole lot less stupid that way! one girl set a record for the lowest grade on a test that i have given - ever. she made a 26. why on earth did she even bother to show up? i don't think i'll ever understand...
