Oops

I keep hearing a commercial on the radio for a summer camp run by one of the local daycare chains. I'm sure they mean to say that their staff is "expert and attentive," but instead they say "expert and tentative." I don't know about you, but I don't think I'd want my kid supervised by a tentative staff!

I hear this commercial just about every morning, during prime time driving. It annoys me to no end, kind of like when I see a billboard with a word spelled wrong or blatant useless quotation mark usage. You know what I am talking about:

"Donuts" & "Kolaches" - 3 for $1!

Are they real donuts or undercover pigs-in-a-blanket? Argh. Christian Finnegan does a funny bit on extraneous quotation marks on his comedy album. I so could relate when I first heard it!

Pidgin English is a growing form of vernacular, a required skill for anyone fumbling through dishwasher user's manuals written in ten different languages.

Haha! I often see useless quotation marks because people think they are required as some sort of emphasis... but worse yet is the misuse of Capital Letters where they don't Belong.

If I were you (or me) I'd call that radio station!

Here's another one that bugs me:

When people say, "I could care less."

What they really mean is they couldn't care less. If they could care less, then they still care.
