Thanks to everybody who has responded to the question about Self-care. Please feel free to leave a comment if you haven't already. It's been a very interesting experience hearing the different definitions. I'm amazed at how many people include other people in their own Self-care!

This Christmas has definitely been "outside the box" for me...in a good way! We're in our new house and had houseguests for the holidays. Usually, we're the guests. It was nice sharing our new casa with family and friends. I've also done a lot of personal growth work with my own therapist lately and I am looking at my parents from a whole different perspective. I'm noting their personalities and who they are as opposed to defining who I am in relationship to them. I don't know if I would have ever chosen them as friends...I suppose that's not a unique experience anyway.

The new year is drawing close. Do you make resolutions? If so, have you decided on any?

I haven't gotten to the self-care question yet... Maybe that could be my resolution. Really I do make them. They are usually large-scale, sweeping tasks for lots of areas of my life. I haven't sat down with them yet. Yeah, I'm a little behind.

I actually made good on a few resolutions for 2006. This year, back to standard "lose weight," "exercise more," "curb sophomoric blogging" - in other words - back to the unachievable.

I'm with you on the parent thing. My relationship with them now is more like being friends with all consideration.

Happy New Year!

cjh and I used to make a particular set of resolutions every year -- a lot like "shaping" our behavior. I usually wait until the second or third week of January to begin so I'm less likely to be influenced by other's resolutions. Losing weight - even though I'm heavy -- is not one of them, continually improving my health is. Happy resolution making in the glorious new year to you!
