i have come to a conclusion. after reading just about everything i can find on the subjects of creating your own life and what is called "the new spirituality," it all boils down to one action that is required of all who would like to reap the benefits: be present.
present as in the now. in the moment. not one millisecond in the past, not one millisecond in the future. it sounds so easy.

Be present? Can you settle for me just being awake? Present sounds too hard.
10 seconds just passed while I stared at the screen, thinking about how hard it is to be consistently present in any given moment.
Oh, but it isn't. Again, Tulsi, thank you... He gave us a lot of information but didn't tell us how to implement it. I think that was the point, though. You have to figure it out on your own. However, if you figure it out, feel free to pass it on to me and I'll do the same.
Tulsi was definitely a "Seed planter." I just need to find some Miracle Gro. =)
I don't know, Tigger. I've been into what's not-so-affectionately called "new age spirituality" for many years. Not that I'm anywhere near mastering any of it. Just a constant student.
I agree that being present is important. I only manage to hit that mark every once in a great while. But you know, as great as Tulsi's teachings are, I used to get pretty irritated at his philosophy. Do something, damn it! I may have even said something like that once. He did something. He lowered my grade for the course to a B. Maybe just being present would have been enough.
I don't think anyone would disagree with the fact that he wasn't an effective teacher! LOL
And then again, how often do you think about him or his class? I do more than most of my grad school classes. It was definitely frustrating at the time but I appreciate it more now.
I humbly disagree. The future is all there is. The "live for the moment" thing reared its ugly head in the 1960s and 70s. It's a mentality that doesn't require accountability for one's actions or respect for practically anything.

Actually, T, it touts that everything is your responsibility - especially the way you feel - and deep respect for all life. I couldn't believe that I had to mentally wrestle with myself the other day as to whether or not to kill a mosquito.
