has 9/11 always been "patriot day" or is that something new? i wonder if the people whose birthdays, anniversaries, etc. are on 9/11 feel guilty celebrating? i hope not. if you go back far enough in history, i am sure some kind of bad shit happened on everyone's birthday.
for example, according to the history channel, on my birthday (8/26) in 1346, "During the Hundred Years War, King Edward III's English army annihilates a French force under King Philip VI at the Battle of Crécy in Normandy. The battle, which saw an early use of the deadly longbow by the English, is regarded as one of the most decisive in history."
and in 1980, "Workers at Harvey's Resort and Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, discover a 1,000-pound bomb disguised as a copy machine in an executive suite. A ransom note that had been attached to the massive explosive demanded $3 million to be paid in return for instructions on how to defuse the bomb." the bomb exploded while the bomb squad was trying to defuse it, demolishing the hotel.
see what kind of bad shit happened on your birthday a long time ago.
