the future's so bright, i gotta wear shades

this semester is already so much better than last semester. i hardly talk about things "straight out of the book." i found this great other book that i use to create lectures from. or i should say, i use it to modify my existing lectures. this way, i can elaborate on just the important things and not just "read the book" to them. i think they enjoy it, though there are a few paranoid people who freak because i am not reviewing the chapters. they are obssessed with the test, and no matter how many times i tell them to chill out - that the review will ensure them a good grade if they study - they still look all anxious in class. at least they care.

i confirmed my most famous guest speaker today. george parnham is coming to talk about mental illness and the law. he's such a nice guy. i didn't even finish asking him if he would come speak before he said yes. he's made it a personal mission to educate as many people as possible. i think that's awesome.

my former co-worker came to speak today about working in a research setting. she was nervous at first, but after she got comfortable, she did a really good job. and since she was talking about medication trials for addicts, she pretty much had everyone's attention. i think i like this guest speaker thing. i only lectured for maybe 30 minutes.

what do you remember about your favorite professors/classes? what is it that they did that made them one of the best in your eyes?
