a while back, danelle had suggested a meme-type post that explained why you read the blogs you do. i thought it was a good idea, but of course didn't have the time to do it then. so, now i do and now i will. i either start reading blogs from the top of my list down or vice-versa. for simplicity's sake, i will start from the top.
daily dose: kambri and i went to junior high school and part of high school together. she's the one who looked me up after many years and introduced me to blogging. i like to read her blog not only because she is a friend, but because her life as a publicist in new york city can be exciting to read about!
not so simple: i found meegan's blog when i started my own back in 2002. i have been hooked ever since. i love her candor and her ability to make even the most ordinary things seem extraordinary.
secret agent josephine: again, another blog i found in 2002. i really like reading brenda's blog because she is everything i am not. she is crafty with several types of media, and i do so enjoy her drawings and slideshows. she has opened up a lot since i started reading, and i think we could be good friends should we ever really meet.
this could only happen to me: danelle found my blog a while back and linked to it. i checked hers out and really liked the way she wrote about everyday things. sometimes she gets philosophical, but generally she writes about her day and her family, and how she feels about it all. her blog has gone through some relaunches and is now password protected (for good reason), but i am glad i am one of the password holders. she has also become a good email friend.
texas t-bone: i was attracted to t's blog because of the word texas in the title. what i found inside the blog were the musings of a family man with Christian roots who was not afraid to state his opinion about things. i like the way t uses lists in his posts, and he generally leaves me with something to think about.
hatamaran: teresa was another blogger who found me first. i like reading her blog because she is a cat lover like me, and she has such talent for making beautiful things out of fiber (the material, not metamucil). she recently lost one of her kitties and my heart goes out to her. i know how hard that can be.
clear lake reflections: mark found me at h-town blogs and started reading and commenting. i reciprocated and am glad i did. he makes me laugh, especially when he speaks of his dog as if he were human. he has a talent when it comes to prose and can make completely ordinary things sound romantic.
way2happy: shiela is another houston blogger. i like reading her blog because she tends to be an elitist, and i can certainly relate to that! she has had some rough things happen in her life, yet she has emerged as a (seemingly) healthy, humorous, incredibly talented human being. she says she doesn't like kids, and is proudly child-free, but i suspect that it's stupid parents that she is so annoyed by!
sugar in the raw: ellen is my blog granddaughter. i like reading her blog because, as the title says, she is raw. she tells it like it is and is very forthcoming about her feelings and observations. she is pregnant after a long bout with infertility, so it's always nice to check in and see how she is doing.
selzach: i like reading this blog because selzach broadens my horizons. she is interested in so many things that i probably would have never heard of had it not been for her. she is also a new mom, so i like to check in to see if she has posted anything new about motherhood or her baby boy.
distracted diva: i found trixie on h-town blogs. she is a proud feminist and a very talented writer. she is also another new mom! i promise i didn't start reading these blogs after the authors became pregnant. there must be something in the cyber-water!
coffee soup: i don't remember how i stumbled upon michelle's blog, but she always keeps me laughing. she has a few kids and is not shy about making astute observations about parenthood. i admire her ability to keep the humor in what must be a pretty intense life.
pull my e-finger: i have known eric through email for almost 10 years now. we started exchanging emails when we both subscribed to a list for a favorite band of ours. we have kept up with each other and have even met twice (or 3 times?). i have seen him go from an awkward freshman at SWT to a confident computer programmer working for a successful company in the silicon valley.
filegirl: i enjoy reading kristine's blog because she makes me laugh. she can make humorous observations about anything. her hubby is also very funny, and she includes his banter in her entries. she has a teenage daughter, so i also like to read about what it's like to be a mom to a 13 year old. my time is coming!
spunga.org: after a long hiatus, @nnette is back to blogging! i enjoy reading because she deals with a lot of the same things i do emotionally. she is a very talented writer and graphic artist, and i enjoy seeing her latest creation on the pages of her blog.
manic gurl: cammie and i have so much in common, it's almost eerie. we share a first and middle name and she lives where my family is from. we also share the same ethnic heritage. i like reading her blog because she is no holds barred. cammie is going to write what she feels, and it's refreshing in this censored world.
ohana...: tracey found me after i started posting about our family trip to disneyland. she and her family were about to go, and she is a big fan of stitch, as i am. i have read as she struggled with a bad relationship, found the strength to leave and is now rediscovering herself as a woman and as a mom.
silly old bear: one of the main reasons i read ben's blog is because of the short, frequent posts. he's fortunate enough to be able to post his thoughts when they occur. i also admire him as the dad of several adopted kids. i have always held a deep admiration for those who are foster and adoptive parents. i wish there were more like him - for he loves each and every one very much.
silver linings: i enjoy reading goldberry's blog for so many reasons. she is the mom of a toddler, so her observations are often amusing, taking me back to when punkin was that age. she absolutely adores her family, and that is so refreshing to read. it makes me take stock of my own family, and what blessings they are to me.
mary's weblog: mary found me a while back and we have been reading each other's blogs ever since. we have a lot in common, though that has been reduced in a recent turn of events. mary has been through a lot in the past year, but still pushes on, striving to better herself and to be the best mom she can be.
so there you have it: a very lengthy post on why i read the blogs that i do. i hope you'll check some of them out and that you can find one or two that you want to add to your blogroll as well.
