you mutha...

i hope all of you mothers and mother figures out there had a fabulous mother's day! mine was very nice, though i didn't get to lie around all day watching movies or anything like that. i used to get to do that when punkin was too small to understand what mother's day was. the captain would go out and buy me a cool gift (usually a massage certificate) and would take care of everything while i lazed around. now, mother's day means that i have to spend as much time as possible with punkin on that day. and she picks out her own gifts. so...since we were at my in-laws' house (they have cable!), we did watch a lot of tv, but it was mostly cartoons. my allergies were as feisty as ever, so that gave me an excuse not to go outside too much. the captain was burning brush and stuff (did i ever mention that he is a total pyromaniac?) so if you stepped outside you immediately smelled like campfire. punkin amused herself with their video camera and came in a while later crying her little brown eyes out because the battery had run out of juice.

when we got home, punkin went straight to wherever it was that she hid my present. she was so excited that she didn't even wrap it! the captain was standing there, holding a roll of colorful wrapping paper and one of those curly cue bows for naught. it pleases me that my daughter takes delight in giving to others. i know that some kids just don't get there during their childhood. so, i took the box from her and looked at it. inside were 2 little ceramic tiles with 3d flowers on them, ready to be hung up on the wall. i would have never bought them on my own, but they do go with the color scheme in my room, so i hung them up and made a big fuss about them. punkin was pleased that i was pleased. and that's all that mattered.
