girls' weekend

i had a nice time with my girlfriends last weekend. we drove "the speck" to austin to visit our friend whose husband is stationed in georgia for another 3 weeks or so. i don't know how they've done it. they got married, and then about 3 months after the honeymoon, he got transferred to georgia! they had bought a house, found jobs and everything. she moved over there with him for a while, but is now back and was lucky enough to get her former position back at work.

their house is like something you'd see in southern living magazine. of course, they don't have any kids, and their one dog is so well-trained, it's amazing. we had our pick of 3 different guest bedrooms!

saturday night, we went to the famous oasis restaurant to watch the sunset. that's me (r) and my friend l. partaking of virgin drinks. hee hee ha ha! i hadn't realized that the many decks had burned down over a year ago. they got struck by lightning! talk about an act of God! so, it was a lot smaller than i remembered, but we had a good time anyway - and the sunset...well, it speaks for itself.
