another Christmas here and gone...and now we go into what is known as "limbo week." does anyone actually do anything in the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve at work? oh, and i forgot to bring my camera to our holiday festivities, so this is some family in france enjoying a Christmas goose or whatever they eat over there. i see wine.
we had Christmas Eve at the in-laws'. thank God i was able to get out of bed by then, though i was still sleeping 10 - 12 hours per night. as you can see by the time stamp, that is no longer so. i am back to my "asleep by 9, up by 5 (or 4 in this case)" routine. i really don't mind. these early morning hours give me the solitude to do what i want in peace. i digress. my mil made some yummy finger foods and i finished off a bottle of merlot that she didn't like. yes, it was a sacrifice... i scored some gift cards and a cool little victoria's secret perfume sampler. the captain got some "man stuff," which included a battery powered tape measure. what is it with men and length? then you add power to it?? let's all make ape noises now! (just kidding, cap. you know i love ya)
the next day, we drove out to my dad's for Christmas dinner. there was no goose. my dad had scored a ymmy smoked ham from his office as well as a "tiger cake," which was very good. and being the "bachelor dad" that he is, he decided to wait until the last minute to get the veggies, salad, and rolls. in his mind, the supermarkets still were open in the morning on Christmas Day. imagine his surprise when he drove up to kr0ger at 7am to find it locked up tight! in fact, all of the stores, even the "mom and pop" ones, were closed. but then there was good ol' w@lgreens. he managed to find a can of mixed veggies (green beans, carrots and onions - ugh), some potato flakes and a small loaf of bread. good thing we were there for the togetherness, though i must say that the ham and the dessert were wonderful! there, i scored a star wars trivial pursuit saga edition dvd interactive game! unfortunately, no one will play it with me. all of my fellow geeks are out of town until the new year. :(
perhaps you're wondering about punkin? well, for the most part, everyone respected my wish to give her just one present per person. i understand that she is six and presents are exciting. but she does not need 20 gifts! it totally overshadows the true meaning of Christmas. but she did get some stuff she's been wanting: a necklace with a locket, a stuffed chair with sleeping beauty on it, an angel barbie, a stuffed polar bear, an art easel with its paraphernalia, a telescope, a chemistry set, and santa brought her a big pink desk for her to do her homework on. it was still not a bad haul.
back to "limbo week." today, i have one meeting. tomorrow, 2 clients. then one client per day for the rest of the week. the gaps will undoubtedly be filled in with entertaining punkin. school is out until 1/5. i need to recruit some of her friends to come visit. we don't want a real perpetual limbo now, do we?

I thought couch doctors were in big demand this week.
I must agree about the "too many gifts." Every new one after a couple diminishes the others. Sort of like love if you let your heart turn the wrong way.
LIMBO WEEK RULES! It starts when you return from the last trip, whatever that is. Ends gracefully or badly depending on New Year's Eve inclinations.
