an ode to the captain

you probably have not read a lot of posts about my other half. the main reason is that i have no complaints about him, and what's a good read if you're not whining? he's not perfect, of course. i picked up yet another towel off of the floor today. but as guys go, i think i might have snatched up one of the last good ones.

we've been together 13 years, married 10 of them. he's been my support through every minute. if i have a migraine, he takes care of punkin. he works hard to support his family (though if you ask him, he'll tell you he's nothing special). he even does housework! being married to him has made my life infinitely easier, and i wouldn't be doing what i love vocationally if it weren't for him.

he has customized our house in ways that i would have never thought of. how many of you have a blinking light in your bedroom that alerts you that you've left your garage door open? he loves punkin and me openly and goes out of his way to help us out. punkin adores him, as do i.

i don't have a picture because he hates to have it taken. he's quiet and would rather hang out at the house than go to a party. he's an intellectual and i know that part of his quietness is him working out things in his head.

so, brief as it is, here's my ode to my friend, soulmate, husband, yada, yada! i love you, hon!

Hey Captain,

Don't go thinking these accolades happen by accident as Christmas season arrives. Your wife calls Dr. Laura every day between 2PM-4PM on AM 700, complaining.

Sincerely,

The ghost of one of those Christmases
