
check out our "white trash" hurricane shelter! the captain asked me to mention that this is a product of having no more plywood and improvising. we even have a peep hole.
watching the news is like watching a movie - it should be fiction, but in this case, it's not. people who left various parts of the city and its suburbs for higher ground yesterday are still sitting in gridlocked traffic. there are tons of people who have run out of gas from going nowhere fast. the mayor even said that being on the freeway right now is like a "death trap." it was 100 degrees around 2pm, and most drivers were sitting there with their air conditioners off to save gas. you can read more about it here.
as for us, we're hanging out. we figure we'll get up early tomorrow, turn on the tv and see how the freeways look. if we can figure out a route that will allow us to get to our destination on one tank of gas, then we will leave. if it's still a giant mess, we will stay. it's out of our hands - all we can do is ask the Big Man to throw a little favor our way.
