intermission

i'm probably going to be taking a mandatory break from posting for a few days. it looks like the storm is going to hit 60 - 100 miles southwest of us, thus we'll be getting the "dirty" side of it. we're heading out tomorrow morning for my in-laws' house. the captain has everything pretty much tied down and anchored. i don't think he'll get to boarding up all 12 windows, but he's doing the ones on the southeast side at least.

i'm periodically watching the news, hearing about all the records that rita is breaking - the latest one is that the eye is 70 miles across, which is "unprecedented" according to the newsperson. more people are boarding up their homes and lots of our neighbors have already left. the closest convenience store to us is completely out of gas - even diesel and premium.
