...because i'm worth it

today, i saw my first full fee client. i work on what is called a "sliding scale" when it comes to my hourly fees. most people can't afford $100/hour, which is technically what i should get paid, so i usually ask them what they can afford to pay and negotiate from there. you'd be surprised at people's responses to that question - i haven't had anyone tell me less than $50/hour.

anypoodle, this new client came in, talked my ear off for 60 minutes and then handed me two $50 bills without batting an eyelash. i almost felt guilty taking the money. i must admit, now that i've had some time to process it, it feels really good to be paid what my services are worth. this is in stark contrast to yesterday, when i had to send 3 accounts to a collection agency. i almost didn't send one of them in - this person has a $50 balance. i paid the collection agency $13 to send her hate letters. i never will understand why people can't just return my calls and talk to me about the bill. send me $5/month if that's all you can afford! but don't ignore me.
