surprise!

i think i mentioned a while back that punkin's best friend is moving out of state. well, she's leaving tomorrow, so we're throwing a surprise party for her at the montessori school today. the sad thing is i couldn't tell punkin about it - she can't keep a secret to save her life! she's going to trip out when she sees me walk in with a cake and balloons. another parent gave me the idea of taking a montessori school shirt and having all of the kids put their handprints on it, but i didn't have the time to do that (and she went out of town for the week!). instead, i made a copy of their class picture on one of those picture machines and bought a cute frame and matte for it. i figured the kids could sign their names on the matte. i hope it all goes well, for apparently m. (the friend) has never had a surprise party, but has always wanted one!

i found out this morning that another kid in the same class is moving...to australia! they're leaving tomorrow as well. i'm not going to scramble to make something for this kid, but i thought i could at least pick up a card and have all the kids sign that.

i'm usually not one to want to host a party, or even to go to one! but there's something about this little girl that makes me really want to do this for her.
