bright ideas

i am back, probably briefly. we are leaving for vacation on friday to go to the smokey mountains! i can almost taste the fresh air. life has been wrapped up in a series of illnesses lately. first, it was me, then the captain and finally punkin, who just went back to school today. judging from the absences in my classes, the crud is definitely going around.

do you remember having to do a project for your school science fair? if so, how old were you? 10? 11? 12? in the midst of all the sickness, we had to come up with a science fair project for my 6 year old. we decided on the topic of "how electricity works" and captain crotch helped punkin make a simple circuit that uses a battery to make a light bulb light up. i helped her with the tri-fold part. it was due one of the days she was out sick, so i got my mom to watch her while i ran the project up to the school. today, i had more time to peruse the other entries. there were 2 other projects extremely similar to ours. i was bummed - i thought that the topic may even be too advanced for punkin. but there was an entry from the kindergarten class that not only explained a circuit, but went in depth about 2 types of circuits. yeah, the 5 year old did it with minimal adult assistance. sometimes parents get just a little too hyper about their children being "the best." fortunately, most of them are blatantly transparent.
